Official job title: Senior Research Associate (Bioinformatics). In reality I’m setting up a Bioinformatics Support Unit for the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
I’m mildly obsessed with SETI@home and have currently crunched my way through about 30,000 “classic” work units. I’ve now transitioned to the new BOINC client and you can check my progress on both here.
I love my music, more than anything else. I will listen to just about anything, but currently trying to listen outside my normal interests of electronica, couch culture and downbeat techno. This has led me to a lot of new (to me) music from other countries.
Currenly fascintaed by Manu Chao, Ozomatli, El Payo Malo, Los Ojos de Brujos and a lot of Turkish/Arabic music. My friends still keep me honest though by their purveying of superb techno and breakbeat.
